Riceworks were officially created in 2005 when a California rice grower started experimenting with snacks he could make with brown rice. Turns out, he was on to something.
We’re sure glad he kept with it. Since those early days of experimenting in the fields, Riceworks snacks have evolved and expanded considerably as a part of the Shearer’s Snacks family. Using real ingredients like whole grain rice is important to us, and allows us to make this delicious gourmet snack that is gluten-free with no artificial flavors or preservatives.

Shearer’s Snacks, parent company of Riceworks, has family roots in food sales that trace back for decades to a family-owned meat market in Canton, Ohio. In 1974, the Shearer family bought a snack distributorship, and in 1979, they started selling kettle cooked potato chips, which the family hand-cooked and packaged one batch at a time. Shearer’s now owns snack manufacturing facilities throughout the United States and produces many varieties of potato and tortilla chips, as well as other snacks.
